Algarve Airbnb Investment in 2026: Occupancy & Revenue, by Town
Data by Brixfox ·

Portugal’s Algarve is the year-round-demand play in Brixfox’s global dataset: straightforward EU property law, the same rights for foreign buyers as for citizens, and strong northern-European tourism. But returns swing widely by town.
Here’s what the region’s Airbnb stock actually earns, town by town, from daily Airbnb and Booking.com calendar data.

What the data says
- The Golden Triangle (Vale do Lobo, Almancil, Quinta do Lago) commands the top rates — $436–$688/night — and $4,000–$5,100/month, on small, premium inventory.
- Lagos is the occupancy leader at 65%, pairing high booking rates with mid-range nightly prices — the western Algarve’s strongest all-rounder.
- Albufeira is the liquidity hub — 1,079 tracked listings, 58% occupancy, $4,128/month — the deepest, most accessible market in the region.
- Demand is unusually year-round for the Mediterranean, driven by northern-European visitors, smoothing the seasonality that hits competing coastal markets.
Why the Algarve holds up
The Algarve’s edge is demand stability: northern-European visitors keep occupancy strong well beyond the summer peak, and EU property law gives foreign buyers the same rights as residents — a transparent, well-trodden buying process. That’s a big part of why European investors favor it even where headline yields sit below Dubai or Bali.
